Shawano County Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan

Shawano County has developed a comprehensive plan for a countywide bicycle and transportation system. This plan has identified potential bicycle and pedestrian transportation routes within the County. These routes may include connection of more populous areas to existing trails (Mountain Bay/WIOUWASH) as well as connection to identified routes in adjoining counties.

The Shawano Lake Path/Trail plan has addressed specific routing, engineering, land acquisition and permitting that will be needed for the trail. The purpose of the plan is to have a detailed project plan in order to apply for Department of Transportation funds (DOT), Department of Natural Resources funds (DNR) and solicit both individual and corporate donations. The plan has projected costs on the various segments of the trail so work can be in a series of stages as funding is secured.
